CHOOSING YOUR TRAINING
Finding the right fit
Every engagement starts with the communication challenge—not a rigid off-the-shelf package.
Which communication training program is right for us?
Media Edge is URQ’s practical media training program for executives, spokespeople and subject-matter experts preparing for television, radio, podcast, print or online interviews. Confidence Edge develops presentation skills, public speaking confidence and clearer workplace communication. Podcast Edge is tailored one-on-one coaching for current and prospective podcast hosts. If your needs overlap, Chris can design a bespoke program combining the most relevant elements.
Can URQ training be customised for our organisation?
Yes. URQ does not deliver a rigid, off-the-shelf workshop. Chris tailors the content, case studies, interview questions, presentation exercises and practical rehearsal scenarios to your organisation, industry, participants and communication objectives. A briefing conversation before the session helps ensure the training reflects the real situations your team is likely to face.
Do you train individuals as well as corporate teams?
Yes. URQ provides communication training for corporate teams, leadership groups, executives, spokespeople and individual professionals. Media Edge and Confidence Edge can be delivered for groups or as private executive coaching, while Podcast Edge is usually a tailored one-on-one workshop. Chris can recommend the best format based on the number of participants and the outcome you want.
What is the ideal group size for media or presentation training?
The ideal group size depends on the program and how much individual rehearsal and feedback each participant needs. Smaller media training and presentation skills groups allow more time for realistic practice, playback and personal coaching. Larger sessions can also work well when they are structured around demonstrations, group exercises and selected rehearsals. Chris will recommend a format that makes the best use of your available time and budget.
FORMAT & LOCATION
Training that works around you
Where does URQ deliver communication training?
URQ delivers media training, presentation skills training and communication coaching at client workplaces, at URQ HQ in Alexandria, Sydney, online where appropriate, or at another suitable venue. Chris works with organisations across Sydney, New South Wales and throughout Australia, with travel and venue arrangements confirmed as part of the proposal.
Do we have to attend training at URQ HQ in Sydney?
No. URQ HQ in Alexandria is an optional professional training venue for clients who want access to dedicated television, video and podcast facilities. Chris can also bring the workshop and practical equipment to your workplace in Sydney or elsewhere in Australia. The location can be chosen around your team, objectives and preferred training experience.
What training facilities are available at URQ HQ?
URQ HQ is a professional communication training space in Alexandria, Sydney. It includes practical training areas together with television interview, video and podcast facilities, allowing participants to rehearse in a realistic environment. The setup used will depend on whether your program focuses on media interviews, presentations, podcast hosting or another communication challenge.
Do you provide media and presentation training outside Sydney?
Yes. URQ delivers media training, presentation training and executive communication coaching across Australia. Chris can travel to your workplace or another suitable venue, bringing the relevant training materials and portable equipment. Any travel, timing and venue requirements are discussed clearly when your tailored proposal is prepared.
Can media or presentation training be delivered online?
Yes, when online delivery suits the participants and learning objectives. Live virtual coaching can be effective for message development, difficult-question practice, presentation preparation and individual feedback. URQ also offers self-paced digital learning through URQ+, beginning with Confidence Edge Online, with Media Edge Online planned to follow.
BOOKING & PREPARATION
What happens before the session?
How much does media or presentation training cost?
URQ prepares a tailored quotation because the cost depends on the program, session length, participant numbers, location, facilities and level of customisation required. After a short conversation about your objectives, Chris will recommend an appropriate format and provide a clear proposal. You do not need a fully developed brief before making an enquiry.
How far ahead should we book communication training?
It is best to enquire as early as possible, particularly if you need a specific date, an interstate session or training before an important interview, presentation or announcement. Short-notice media training and executive coaching may sometimes be possible, so it is still worth contacting URQ if your requirement is urgent.
What information do you need to prepare a training proposal?
To begin, URQ only needs a brief outline of your organisation, participants, communication challenge, preferred timing and location. Chris will then discuss your objectives, audience, experience levels and any upcoming interviews or presentations. That conversation provides the detail needed to recommend the right program and tailor the practical exercises.
Is URQ communication training practical?
Yes. Practical rehearsal is central to URQ’s approach. Depending on the program, participants may practise media interviews, difficult questions, key messages, presentations, podcast conversations or other realistic workplace scenarios. Chris provides direct, constructive feedback so participants understand what is working, what needs to change and how to improve immediately.
Can training prepare us for a real interview or presentation?
Yes. URQ can shape the training around a forthcoming media interview, keynote, board presentation, announcement, crisis issue or other high-stakes communication event. Realistic questions and scenarios help participants test their messages, identify gaps and rehearse their delivery before the moment matters. Confidential or sensitive material can be discussed during the initial briefing.
ONLINE & AFTER THE WORKSHOP
Continuing the learning
How do URQ online communication courses work?
Courses in URQ+ are designed for immediate purchase and self-paced learning. Depending on the course, participants can work through video lessons, practical exercises, planning templates and downloadable resources in their own time. Purchased courses appear inside their personal URQ+ account, allowing learners to return to the material and continue from where they left off.
What is URQ+?
URQ+ is the private, logged-in learning area for URQ customers and participants. Each person sees only the online courses and participant resources they have purchased or been granted access to. It provides one secure place for video lessons, refresher material, worksheets and downloads connected with their URQ learning.
Do in-person workshop participants receive follow-up resources?
Selected Media Edge, Confidence Edge and Podcast Edge workshops can include access to a private participant toolkit. These concise resources may include refresher videos, planning templates, checklists and practical downloads that reinforce the in-person training. Access is granted individually through URQ+ after the workshop rather than being published on the public website.
Will workshop access automatically subscribe me to marketing emails?
No. Receiving access to a course or participant toolkit is separate from consenting to promotional email. URQ may send messages needed to provide your account and learning resources, but you can choose separately whether to receive occasional communication advice, videos, event invitations and other URQ updates.
